We were a bit apprehensive when we began the project, as our previous building experiences had always included “surprises.” (Those surprises cost us time and money.) We were so impressed with your professionalism form our first conversation with you. You carried that professionalism throughout the entire project: You kept us abreast of the timetable for the subcontractors, the quality of the workmanship was very good, you were creative when we were at a loss for ideas, the estimate and the final bill “matched,” and the cleanup was amazing. You did a wonderful job on the remodeling for our basement. It is practical to use as a family and elegant enough to host all kinds of guests. During the initial meeting you listened to what we wanted and you were able to accomplish everything we wanted when others said they could not. You also gave suggestions we would not have thought of.  You always kept us up-to-date with everything from expenses to timing of contractors.  You were very considerate of us living in the home while this process was being completed. We recently completed a major update of our kitchen that included removing and replacing the flooring, cabinets, ceiling, lighting, plumbing, countertops, and backsplash. This is the second project we have contracted with Dave Adickes at Midwest Contracting & Construction. The first was a master bathroom on the second floor which was completed one year ago. Dave told us the kitchen project would take about 6-8 weeks. We were out of town during the demolition of the old kitchen and removal of the old appliances, flooring, cabinets and ceiling. When we returned after 2 1/2 weeks, the new flooring, cabinets, ceiling, and most of the lighting was installed. Everything was cleaned and neat for our return and we had a minimum amount of inconvenience. We would recommend being out of the house during that time. Dave and his subcontractors are so completely trustworthy that we had no concerns about his leaving a lock box on the door so that workers could come and go as needed. Dave has several outstanding characteristics that make him a good choice of contractors. Top of the list is his attention to detail during the construction and following-up on the final touches. They took no short cuts. His ability to plan, both time and budget, gave us the assurance the projects would be completed on time and just slightly under price for the budgeted items. We would highly recommend Dave for construction projects. We have experienced a bathroom remodel and a kitchen remodel and have seen outdoor deck work he has done. All were nicely designed. The suppliers he has chosen are very helpful especially Consolidated Kitchens and Fireplaces on Meredith Dr. in Urbandale. Dave has taken before, during, and after pictures of the project and has our permission to use them with potential clients. If potential clients have specific questions, we would be willing to visit with anyone.
